6 Easy Meal Ideas Perfect for a Camping Trip

Camping is an incredible getaway for those who love nature. You spend the night under the stars, spend time in solitude or with close friends, and cook delicious food. Meals cooked outdoors are a little more adventurous and tastier. Here are six easy recipes to use on your next camping trip.

1. Garlic Steak and Potatoes

This recipe is so easy because you simply throw everything into aluminum foil and let the fire do the cooking. You can easily prepare all the ingredients ahead of time. Keep this packet in a cooler until you are ready to toss it on the fire.

Ingredients:

1-pound Yellow Potatoes, cubed

1 Onion, thinly sliced

1-pint Mushrooms

4 Garlic Cloves, crushed

4 tablespoons Oil

2 teaspoons Salt

1 teaspoon Thyme

1 teaspoon Steak Seasoning

1 teaspoon Paprika

12-ounces Steak, cubed

2 tablespoons Butter

1 tablespoon Grated Parmesan

Parsley for garnish

Overlap two large sheets of aluminum foil. Mix all the above ingredients together and place them in the foil. Fold the foil around the food until it is tightly closed. Place the foil packet on the fire coals for 35-40 minutes. Turn the foil pouch halfway through to cook evenly.

2. Hot Dogs

Hot dogs are a classic campfire food. Grab a pack of hot dogs and hot dog buns. If you want to keep it low key, just grab some ketchup and mustard to adorn the top. Chili, slaw, chopped onions, and relish are easy to bring camping if you prefer to dress your hot dog with all the fixings. Campfire hot dogs go great with a can of baked beans or a bag of chips.

3. Blueberry French Toast Breakfast

If you have leftover hot dog buns, you can put them in this Blueberry French Toast recipe. This recipe can be cooked right over the fire in a Dutch oven.

Ingredients:

10 slices of Bread or 8 Hot Dog Buns, cubed

1 cup Blueberries

4 cups Peaches

10 Eggs

8-ounces Cream Cheese

1 cup Half and Half

½ cup Maple Syrup

1 tablespoon Vanilla

1 tablespoon Butter

Mix all the ingredients together. Place in a Dutch oven. Bake over the coals of a fire for 35-45 minutes. Serve with additional maple syrup as a topping.

4. Russian Tea

Ingredients:

1 ½ cups Sugar

2 cups Instant Tang

1/2 cup Instant Tea Mix

1 teaspoon ground Cinnamon

1 teaspoon Allspice

1 package Unsweetened Lemonade Mix

Mix these ingredients together ahead of time and keep them in an airtight container. For a quick drink to warm you up, place 2-3 tablespoons of your prepared Russian tea mix into a mug with hot water. 5. Sandwiches or Homemade Lunchables

Sandwiches are the perfect quick lunch while camping. Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, a ham sandwich, or a BLT are easy to take with you while hiking.

Lunchables are also easy to throw together for a cold lunch on a sweltering day while camping. Grapes, olives, apples, cheese cubes, pepperonis, ham cut into wedges, sliced turkey, carrots, and celery are all easily paired together to make an adult-sized lunchable.

6. Campfire Pizza

Pizza is one of the great comfort foods. Make your own pizzas and cook them over a charcoal fire to experience a little comfort in the woods.

Ingredients:

Pitas, Tortilla Wraps, or Low-Carb Wraps

Tomato Sauce

Mozzarella Cheese
